OVERVIEW

During the 2015-16 season of the Puget Sound Seabird Survey, 720 surveys from October 2015 through April 2016 were completed. Surveys were conducted at 120 locations within 8 Puget Sound counties - Clallam, Island, Jefferson, King, Kitsap, Pierce, Snohomish and Thurston. Though several sites were retired this year, there were surveys conducted at five more sties than the previous season. These surveys represented approximately 171 hours of survey time and approximately 1,220 hours of volunteer effort. Data were collected on 54 species of seabird and waterfowl that utilize near-shore habitat, an increase of one species from the previous season.
